The act of shooting a dope sequence in BMX I feel is generally pretty overlooked. Sure, not everything makes an awesome sequence but even when it does, we rarely (for whatever reason) will use a sequence over an awesome single frame for things like ads and so-fourth. Why? I really don’t know…but I do know that I’m definitely down with the sequence……(oooooo wa ah ah ahh) Here’s Raban with a crook to feeble 180 bar by Joey Cobbs from our Volume In California Trip way back when…

Jonas absolutely hates that nickname, but shit it actually applies this time so we’re rollin with it, lol sorry bud! This photo by Joey Cobbs was taken on the Volume California Trip at the same spot in the Bay area where Drew Hoss does the fakie crook on the pole. Unfortunately this clip of Jonas didn’t come out exactly how I wanted and got left on the cutting room floor so to speak….but hey there’s no reason the photo shouldn’t get some love! Ever shoe-ba-ca wizzard, Mike decided to go the more traditional route this time by using his front tire and this skinny little support rail.

…One very, very long night not so long ago. I had the whole light/dark spot scrolling idea in mind for the Volume In California intro, so I built myself a fresh functioning dolly rig with a pair of $7 roller skate wheels at Goodwill, some angle iron, PVC, and a 2’x3′ piece of plywood, then set off into the night not entirely sure how I was going to achieve the effect I was after for each spot….
