Mastroni | 10.21.14

Thanks to Jeff Z and the dudes at Ride, plus photographers Joey Cobbs and Greg Moliterno, we have a lengthy article in the newest November 2014 issue all about our upcoming DVD The Finer Things. Everyone involved here is quite the individual, so I wrote a bunch about what it’s like filming with each person, and of course answered some questions about the overall project itself. For all you kids out there who have never looked at a BMX magazine, you are missing out on some of the most quality BMX content in existence and are pretty much royally blowing it for the future of all BMX mankind. Just like a DVD itself, you can HOLD a magazine in your hand…what crazy concept right?? Don’t be a kook, pick one up or SUBSCRIBE today!

Working It Out With Josh Clemens

Brian | 09.4.14

I always think it’s interesting to see guys coming up that seem to manage riding and work equally as good.  And nothing’s harder than seeing your pro rider friends ride all day while you’re at work!  Josh has been with us at 180 Distribution for little under a year and seems to manage the two fairly well.  Plus he’s a powerhouse on his days off with stacking clips and learning new tricks on the daily.  He never ceases to amaze me when he rides.  We thought it would be cool to interview him on how he does it and show off what he does in the shipping dept too.  Click above image to read/ see it all.  more

DeMarcus Update

Brian | 05.10.14

Couple weeks back Mastroni and DeMarcus went up to Utah to visit Tate and to film for the new Volume DVD, The Finer Things.  While on their third day of filming, DeMarcus hung up on a icepick down a rail to his face and fractured his jaw and chin.  We were all floored by the news and didn’t know what had really happened at the time.  The majority of the Volume team was on a group chat worried about him, since none of us knew the severity of the crash.  Turned out that DeMarcus was okay considering, and learned that he’s one tough dude.  Now that he’s doing a bit better, we figured we’d ask him how he’s doing and give you guys a little perspective on what he’s been going through.    more

Josh Team Page Pic
Just got Mr. Clemens team page up with a cool lil’ interview, a couple new pics, and some sweet quotes like this one, “My dad basically raised me on Iron Maiden and Metallica. That’s literally the first music I remember hearing every time I was around my dad.”  Check it out HERE>>

DeMarcus’ Vital Q&A

Brian | 04.16.14

DeMarcus' Bike

DeMarcus has up a quick 7 Q&A up at Vital about his sponsor switch-up to Volume and more. Click here to check it out >>
“Just from the short period that I’ve been around the Volume crew, I can already feel the family vibe. It was the same as with Freed Bikes. When it comes to the riding aspect of things, I do feel that what Volume offers is a better “pro deal” that works better for me.” – DeMarcus

Broc’s Vessel Frame Up Close

Brian | 02.24.14

It’s always interesting hearing what goes on behind the scenes with how something is made, especially from a pro riders point of view.  We sat down with Broc and got the scoop about his Vessel frame and why he chose certain specs, name and graphics.  Click more to read the full interview and see his finalized Vessel frame up-close.  more

Drew’s Friday Interview

Brian | 01.19.14

drew-tire-jam

Our creative junky, Drew Hosselton made RIDEbmx’s Friday Interview.  Be sure to check it out and read some of the out-takes from his last RIDE interview.

Drew Hosselton graced the cover of our October 2013 issue along with a great interview inside, and like usual, there was too much said during the interview to fit it all into the layout. So here are the out-takes from Drew’s interview, it’s a little random topic wise—ranging from tortoises and rodeo stars, to pools and web videos.” – RIDE

You Are What You Drive

Brian | 01.3.14

I always thought that old saying, “you are what you drive” was bullshit but when you really dissect it, I suppose it’s somewhat true.  You drive what fits you, what’s practical for your needs or what’s affordable to you at the time.  Considering I drive a minivan around, I just hate to say that’s who I am but I guess it’s true… somewhat!  Anyone that knows Alex, knows he’s got steez on and off his bike and rocks the hell out of seventies style clothes, music and etc.  When he pulled up in the 1970′s metallic brown Toyota Corona, I couldn’t help but think that car fits him perfectly.  While this has nothing to do with bikes, besides Alex rolling up to spots in a bit more style than his last Dodge Caravan, I thought it would be cool to show off what Alex’s “other ride” is.  Click top image to see more and read a mini interview on Alex’s new Corona.  more

Setups: Mike Mastroni’s Cerberus

Brian | 12.31.13

Being an “artsy” guy like Mike usually leaves him to have the most interesting looking bikes with custom paints and splatter effects.  This time, he chose to leave his frame color as-is… for now.  The army-green was a sample color we’ve had for Jason Enns’ Cerberus that grew on Mike over time. We also interviewed Mike to see what he’s been up to, what’s up with the Volume DVD, and everything else in-between.
