To be on the same list with absolute legends like Rick Moliterno, Chad DeGroot and Krt Schmidt is a huge award all on its own but to make the top 10 best freecoaster rider is quite an honor. Eric has been killing the freecoaster game for years and we’re always in awe of what he comes up with. Stoked to see our man get some recognition. Check out the rest of the list here>>
“Eric Bahlman has been running a freecoaster long before the trend fully set in, but it’s here recently that Eric has really been making a name for himself with some of the most ridiculous backwards combinations ever. If you were to crown the king of backwards manuals, Eric would take the title no questions asked.” – Vital BMX
Billy Perry comes through with an awesome edit of clips he’s filmed between 2014 and now. Billy’s a solid dude and awesome rider with great style. Make sure you watch this one. It’s all filmed on an iPhone but the riding transcends. Check out his other endeavor FTL while you’re at it…
If you haven’t noticed by Jason Enns’ Instagram, he’s turned into quite the pool guru these last couple years with finding amazing pools to shred all over California. Recently he took Van Homan, Garrett Byrnes, Mike Escamilla, Keith Mulligan and Rob Dolecki on a scavenger hunt for pools all over SoCal this last week for a new DIG article. Be on the lookout for the feature that will probably drop next month… Euro photo of Enns, shot by Enns via GoPro.
I always love getting updates from the Hoss, you just never know what the he’ll get over to you or what weird spot he’ll show you. This one is a prime example. Click more to view the whole photo by Greg Moliterno
“Slowly but surely Greg Moliterno and I have been creeping out to some of the more far flung areas of Arizona in search of new and awesome spots to ride. The infamous white walls are by no means a new spot, but we had Jono Hopping in town from New Zealand, so it was a perfect opportunity to make the drive out there. Much to our dismay there was a thin layer of standing water covering the entire platform that the transitions sit on. Not about to be defeated by a little water, after an hour or so of taking shifts with the broom, we had it rideable and ended up having an amazing session.” – Drew Hosselton more
Attention: Shameless self posting. For all you die hard Volume site readers out there who may have noticed I haven’t been in the mix as much lately, it’s because I’ve been out and about working really hard to wrap up my own section in The Finer Things. Having spent the last couple years very much dedicated to finding spots and filming everyone else, I’ve been taking this time to focus more on my own section, make my ideas a reality, and make it as good as can be. I’ve been told before I have a one track mind and am totally incapable of multi-tasking….for the most part this is absolutely true. Our friend Devin Feil shot this in the midst of getting one of my bucket list ideas done the other day right here in Long Beach with our very own Josh Clemens behind the lens. – Mike Mastroni
Currently not exactly this, but probably something just like it…only separate and in the future. I’ve made the trek out to Salt Lake once again to film with the one and only Tate Roskelley for his upcoming section in The Finer Things. Keep an eye out for some updates from our time out here, which may be including but limited to: photos of Tate looking at spots, photos of Elf, Faygo, water features, goat-head thorns, tandem bikes, etc…really just wherever the day takes us. Stay tuned for all of that & for now enjoy our split section from OSS’s “Ruin Your Whole Summer” which Tate hates.
Eric just recently went on a Barcelona trip and got to ride some amazing spots and play tourist for a bit, read below to see what he’s been up to:
I found one riding photo from my Barcelona trip. It’s not the best quality so I hope that’ll work for the update. It’s a hop bar in front of the Arc de Triomf.
“What’s up guys! The summer has been pretty hot out here in AZ but that hasn’t stopped me from riding. To escape the heat I’ve tried to travel a bunch. First, I headed out to Cali with Drew Hoss in July. We meet up with Mastroni to film for the upcoming Volume DVD “The Finer Things”. Stoked because it was a pretty productive trip for the whole crew. Can’t wait to see it when it comes out later this year!!
At the beginning of August I headed out to Barcelona for two weeks for a little summer vacation. I met up with Simone Barraco and Shadow TM Chadwick to hang out, shred and film for the Shadow DVD. Barcelona was amazing as always, so many good spots out there!
I also just found my old Hi-8 camcorder from back in the day so I bought a new fisheye lens for it and a filming handle. Be on the look out for an edit I’m working on with some local AZ shredders!
Well the next stop for me is Interbike in Vegas next week then Texas Toast/ Nora Cup in Austin October. Hope to see all you guys out there, Ciao!!” – Eric Bahlman
Drew has had a busy couple of months with locking up his Finer Things part, traveling, working and now is on the Tea and Biscuits tour. Read below what the man himself has to say. Photo by Greg Moliterno
“Its been nothing but busy times here in Arizona this summer. I have been getting ready for Elephant Distro Tea and Biscuits Part 2 (which I’m on now) week in the UK. When the trip is over I will be hanging behind in Europe for a couple weeks to travel around with some homies, should be dope. I had Mastroni and Platt come to town last week and I am stoked to say we wrapped up my part for the Finer Things DVD which should be out in a few months. So with a rad trip in the very new feature and finishing up a video part we have been working on for the past year and a half or so I gotta say life has been pretty good lately.” Love, Drew
Just saw on Instagram that DeMarcus is on a big Merritt trip back east filming and shooting with all the east coast homies. Sure we’ll see some bangers shortly from his trip. Photo above is of D hopping a rail during our last tee shoot. Photo by J.Cobbs
